The Blue Yeti itself, which is connected via USB and supports output (it has an internal DAC) as well as input. (Analog stereo duplex)Īn external DAC that is connected via USB and is output-only. For testing, I have connected an old, crappy pair of headphones, but normally I keep this disabled.

So, let's start off first with my configuration.Īn on-board audio solution that I don't typically use. I've tried for many days, with no success, to get this thing working. As fair warning, although I am relatively experienced with Linux, I don't know much about the internals of ALSA/PA - up until now, it has just "always worked", so this is my first real foray into the area.

It is supposed to require no drivers for Windows and OS X, and so far, it works well under Windows, but I cannot seem to get it to function on Arch Linux. I REALLY like the zero-latency monitoring feature, and it's got a gain control, and sometimes it might be nice to have a stereo mic.I recently bought a Blue Yeti USB microphone. If I was buying a "podcast" mic, that's probably the one I'd buy. I don't own the Blue Yeti, but it's got a great set of features. They probably won't help you with Audacity, but if Windows can't see the mic they should help you with that. I don't know if Blue's Customer Support is good or not, but you might give it a try.

I have a Blue Icicle and although in my case Windows and Audacity could see it, it was using the wrong driver and it didn't work 'till I changed it. You might have to re-install or change the driver or something. It might show-up there and there might be some kind of "warning icon" showing that there's a problem. Look down the list for Universal Serial Bus Controllers and then click on the little box to expand the list. Start -> Control Panel -> Device Manager. Or, you might need to go into Windows Device Manger to see if you can find a USB device showing a problem. Try Start -> Devices and Printers -> Add Device.
